Middle East Conflict: Israel and Palestine
This course will explore the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in its historical and present-day context. Major issues and problems covered will include, among others: land, refugees, the role America plays in the region, and the possible solutions under the current changing political climate. Given the contentious nature of the discussion over Palestine and Israel, students will need to critically evaluate competing arguments to come to their own understanding of this difficult history. Class readings and discussions will focus on both sides of the basic issues. No prior academic courses or knowledge are required.
