Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

How can I register for summer classes?

  • You can register by phone by calling the Summer Office at 631-287-8175. We can answer your questions and fill out the appropriate forms.
  • You can complete and fax the registration form in this catalog to 631-287-8253 and we will waive your $25.00 deposit.
  • You can register on-line here.
  • If you are a Southampton Graduate Campus student you should speak with your advisor and register through Enrollment Services. If you need assistance, the Summer Office staff is happy to help.
Can I attend summer courses at Southampton Graduate Campus even if I am not a Southampton Student?
  • Yes. Visiting undergraduate students, advanced high school students, and interested individuals may register for any regular undergraduate course for which they believe they are prepared.
Will my summer course transfer to my home school?
  • Usually, yes. It is best that you check with your advisor or registrar at your home school to confirm that your summer courses will transfer. Your home school may request that you fill out a permission form or may ask you for a course syllabus. If you need syllabus mailed to your home school, please call or e-mail the Summer Office, 631-287-8175/summer@southampton.liu.edu
Is summer housing available?
  • Yes. Students are housed in College residence halls. Housing is suite style with four to seven bedrooms off a common living room and bath. Suites are single sex. Most accommodations are "doubles" (sharing a room with another student). There are a limited number of small singles. All housing is on a first-come first-served space available basis.
Are there summer jobs in the area or on campus?
  • Yes, there are summer jobs in the Hamptons. Southampton Graduate Campus is located in a summer resort community and there are usually many part-time jobs in local restaurants, clubs, and shops. A list of a few of these establishments can be found in this catalog. We recommend contacting potential employers in April and May regarding possible openings.
  • For Southampton Graduate Campus students, there may be a limited number of on-campus positions. Students should contact various campus offices in early March. Programs that often have limited positions for Southampton students and Southampton graduates include:
    • Summer Day Camp. Camp Counselors. Call 631-287-8316 for application.
I have my bachelor's degree. Can I register for a graduate course?
  • In many cases yes. If you have your bachelor's and are interested in graduate art or business courses you may directly register for these courses. If you are interested in graduate education, you must contact the Graduate Education Division, 631-287-8211, for pre-approval. If you want to take a graduate English and Writing course (other than the Writers Conference) you need to complete a non-matriculation Admissions Application and be accepted on a visiting status. Information and forms are available through the Graduate Admissions Director, 631-287-8200
How do I get a transcript (grade report) sent to my home school? How do I pay my bills?
  • You can pay by Visa, Mastercard, or Discover by calling Enrollment Services at 631-287-8000. You can also pay by mail or in person at the Enrollment Services Center.
Do you offer evening classes?
  • Yes, we have a limited number of evening classes. Please go to the "Courses at a Glance" section for a listing of evening courses.
Can I get to the Beach?
  • Yes. Beautiful ocean beaches and Shinnecock Bay are only a bike ride away. If you have a car, you will need to purchase a visitors parking permit by calling the Village Beach Office at 631-283-9771.
I'm a high school student. Do you offer any programs for me?
  • Yes. If you are entering your junior or senior year in high school, we have the Young Writers Workshops. Advanced high school students may also take any introductory course (with the permission of the instructor). If you have any questions, please call the Summer Office at 631-287-8175.
Will I automatically be dropped from a course if I never attend a class?
  • No. You must officially drop your course by completing a "Schedule/Personal Data Change" form found in this catalog or by completing a form in person at the Enrollment Services Center. All changes must be made within the calendar detailed in this catalog. Refunds will be allowed in accordance with the "Refund/Withdrawal" schedule posted in Enrollment Services.
