Iraq Rescue Commander, N.Y. Congressmen King &
Ackerman Featured in New Homeland Security Lecture Series
Leading experts in the field of homeland security-including
Reps. Peter T. King and Gary Ackerman-will visit the C.W. Post Campus
of Long Island University to share their experiences and insights
as part of an important lecture series.
The Long Island University Homeland Security Management
Institute, which in September launched the first master's degree
in homeland security management registered with the state of New
York, is offering its inaugural lecture series free to the public
the university's C.W. Post Campus in Brookville, New York.
The lectures are:

Rescue Mission: The Perfect Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom
(Wednesday, Nov. 29): Retired Air Force combat commander and
C.W. Post graduate David Ruvola will chronicle his personal
experience as commander of a rescue mission featured in the
book and film "The Perfect Storm" as well as his experiences
with the Air Force 101st Expeditionary Rescue Squadron in Operation
Iraqi Freedom.

Origins of al-Qai'da (Thursday, Dec. 7): Counterintelligence
expert Richard Pena will discuss his current work with the Northeast
Regional Counterintelligence Office at Brookhaven National Laboratory
and his role on the FBI/NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force, where
he conducted criminal and intelligence investigations involving
al-Qai'da and Sunni extremists in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Europe
and the Caribbean.

Current Issues in Homeland Security: (Wednesday, Dec. 13) Rep.
Gary Ackerman, Fifth Congressional District of New York, will
share his perspective as the senior member of the House International
Relations Committee, where he addresses issues of national security,
nuclear proliferation and terrorism in the Middle East, Asia,
Europe and Latin America.

Current Issues in Homeland Security (call for date): Chairman
of the Homeland Security Committee Rep. Peter King, Third Congressional
District of New York, will examine the war against international
terrorism, both at home and abroad, from his specialized perspective
and with his trademark straightforwardness.
All lectures will be held at 7 p.m. in Room 119 of Humanities
Hall at the C.W. Post Campus, 720 Northern Boulevard (Route 25A),
