Men's Basketball 2002-03 Outlook
The Runnin? Colonials are perhaps Southampton Graduate Campus?s most storied program. In the 1960s and ?70s, they were one of the country?s best teams and produced several pro players, including New York Net Marvin Lewis. Then, 2002 brought a flood of nostalgia to the gym as it marked the 30th anniversary of a Colonial NCAA Final Four berth. After a losing campaign in 2000-01, the Runnin? Colonials came back inspired the next season and did what seemed previously unimaginable: They beat two of the nation?s powerhouse Div. II basketball programs and won an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference title. The senior tandem of all-stars Jason Lewis and Curtis Small ended their careers as the No. 3 and No. 4 scorers in campus history. Both players have been invited to try out for pro teams. Playing in the world-renowned beach resort Hamptons, Southampton Graduate Campus players have trained with NBA stars who live in the area. Celebrities have been spotted at home games. The Runnin? Colonials are !
also well-known for their community involvement, including several players on the team volunteering as mentors for local children in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Read More
