The Lady Colonials are thrilled that Michelle Ransom is healthy and ready to assume her role as a key offensive weapon in Southampton's arsenal. After reconstructive surgery to her knee, Michelle has the potential to become one of the best players in the league. "She's ready to step up and be one of the premier players in the conference," said Head Coach Meyer, "She's been anxious to show what she can do. I'm looking for her to be a strong candidate for consideration for the All Conference team this season." Blessed with not only lightning speed, Ransom also brings superb ballhandling skills and strong passing abilities to the court. These talents helped her to be selected as "Athlete of the Year" in high school. One former coach ranked Ransom's arrival to Southampton as one of the college's "greatest recruiting coups." While coaches and fans of the Lady Colonials are excited about this up and coming star, opponents will soon be wondering how to defend against Southampton's latest threat. Offense isn't the only strong point of Ransom's game. As a senior at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, it was Ransom's stellar defense that helped win the 1999 Catholic League title. It was the school's first championship in 13 years. Ransom, who has aspirations to coach someday, is eager to claim her place among the Lady Colonials elite and help bring a title to Southampton.
