Outlook 2003
The popular women’s volleyball team at Southampton Graduate Campus has yet to win a title, but that is likely to change soon. Second year head coach Tobey Pantophlet is in charge of a young, hard-hitting team that just won’t quit. The Lady Colonials have attracted some of the Northeast’s top high school volleyball talent and, through hard work and determination, should shape up into a surprise contender. The team reached the Eastern College Athletic Conference playoffs in 1998. In 2000, four-year starter Noelle Kuhn led the team to an NYCAC playoff berth with a 7-4 league record. The team is known for its fierce competitiveness and genuine camaraderie – characteristics that serve them well in the highly competitive New York Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Captain’s Erin Sabrosky and Allison Hoyt are poised to assume their leadership role. Sabrosky and Hoyt both had 108 kills last season. Sabrosky had 403 assists and Hoyt had 77 blocks. These two represent the core of this team.
They are trying to rebuild a team that lost two key starters last year, Cindy Cleary & Marisa Baran. With the addition of Colonial basketball standout Jen Geiger, he hopes to build a solid middle. This move gives the Lady Colonials the option of moving Allison Hoyt to the outside.

Head Coach Tobey Pantophlet returns for his second year on the sidelines for the Lady Colonials. Pantophlet came to Southampton after coaching both soccer and volleyball at several local high schools: Mattituck, Center Moriches, and Westhampton Beach. He has also coached an open division women's club team and has been involved with the under-18 girl's club teams. He also was the assistant camp director of the Roadrunner Volleyball Camp at Ramapo College from 1999-2002.
Assistant Coach Theresa Ceriello comes to Southampton from Brandeis University, where she received her degree in economics. She received All-New England Honors during her tenure as starting setter for the Brandeis Judges. She also coached a travel team of 14-year-olds while attending Brandeis. Ceriello is currently employed as a fitness consultant at The Body Zone Too in Hampton Bays. |
