Entering his first season with the Lady Colonials is Coach Marcus
Donahue, who brings years of experience and success to Southampton's
newest intercollegiate program. Women's tennis is entering its
fourth year at the college and has built a solid foundation of
young talent that should flourish under Donahue's guidance.
Last spring, Donahue revived the men's tennis program at Southampton
from a two year hiatus. He guided the nine members, many new to
the sport, to a competitive season. Donahue is a native of Vernon,
CT, and a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. It
was at the New Haven College where Donahue was the doubles player
of the year in the NECC division, as well as the number one singles
and doubles player on his team. He was a certified pro by the
US Tennis Pro Association (USTPA) and played in the US Tennis
Association.
Donahue, who replaces two year coach Glenn Nathan, currently
resides in Westhampton where he owns and runs a tennis and golf
shop. He describes himself as a "strong competitor with a passion
for individual success as well as team success."
