COLONIALS FEATURE TWO ALL_AMERICANS
Southampton Graduate Campus goalie Larry Falkman was named a First Team Division II All American while teammate and attackman Mike Daquino was named to the Second Team. The two seniors led the Colonials to a 9-5 record this season, as the team ended the season ranked No. 6 in the nation.

Southampton vs. NYIT in the ECAC Finals at NYIT
With homefield advantage and in a fight-filled game, NYIT avenged a loss earlier in the season to the Colonials and took the ECAC title with a 17-10 triumph. Larry Falkman made 25 saves for Southampton. Final Record: 9-5, 3-3 NYCAC.

Men's Lacrosse May 11, 2001
Southampton vs. West Chester in the ECAC Playoffs at NYIT
Will Campbell had five goals and Chris Schiefer four goals and an assist for second-seeded Southampton in the ECAC semifinals. Mike Daquino had two goals and three assists for Southampton, which easily won 13-6, avenging a loss to West Chester in the regular season. Record: 9-4, 3-3 NYCAC.

Chris Schiefer led the Colonials to victory with four goals. Dave Ortiz and Desmond Megna ended the game with three goals a piece. Women's Softball April 28, 2001
Doubleheader: Adelphi at Southampton
The Colonials split with Adelphi losing the first game 10-1 and winning the second game 13-9. Annie Silkowski hit 2-for-3 and drove in three RBI. This win put the Colonials into the playoffs (game is Friday at 3 p.m. at NYIT vs. Queens). Record: 13-24, 10-12 NYCAC.

Doubleheader: Molloy at Southampton
Southampton split with Molloy. They had a 6-5 win in the first game and a 2-1 loss in the second. Shannon Owens went 3-for-5, and Robin Owens had in three RBI for the day. Record: 12-23, 9-11 NYCAC.

Adelphi at Southampton
Mike Daquino scored three goals and Larry Falkman made 23 saves, but Southampton couldn't muster enough offense to down Adelphi, the nation's No. 2 team. The Panthers won 11-5. Southampton now looks to an important home game against No. 3 CW Post on May 2 at 4 p.m. to revive its playoff hopes. Record: 7-2, 2-1 NYCAC. Scenes from the game.

The senior netminder stopped 29 shots in a 5-11 defeat of Dowling. The Ronkonkoma, New York native was also named New York Collegiate Athletic Conferance (NYCAC) Goaltender of the Week.

Southampton lost in two close games 8-7, 5-2. Shayma Hill went 4-for-4 in the first game with three RBI. In the second game Erin Molloy went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Record: 10-19, 8-8 NYCAC.

The Colonials lost to Dowling 5-1 and 9-0. Stephanie Valentinetti hit .667 for the day and Jennifer Maiorini had the only RBI. Record: 10-15, 8-6 NYCAC.

Southampton beat Philadelphia 2-1 in the first game and 7-5 in the second game. Erin Molloy had four RBI for the day from her four hits. Record: 10-13, 8-4 NYCAC.

Southampton lost to NJIT 1-3 (28-30, 20-30, 30-28, 27-30). Record: 15-10, 6-7 HAY.

Men's Lacrosse April 11, 2001
NYIT at Southampton
Overcoming a 4-0 deficit, Southampton handled NYIT 14-11 in their league opener. Larry Falkman made 23 saves, many of them point-blank, after rallying his previously cold and outraced defensemen. By the second period, NYIT was worn down and the Colonials took over with an 8-0 run that lasted into the second half. A penalty-riddled game where even NYIT's coach was flagged, the toughman contest ended up being Southampton's first win over NYIT since going to Division II in 1993. As of Monday, NYIT was ranked No. 3 in the nation and Southampton No. 8. Now the Colonials are primed to make the NCAA Tournament -- the first ever for the lacrosse team -- if they can beat league powers Adelphi and CW Post. Both games will be at Southampton, on April 25 at 3:30 p.m. and May 2 at 4 p.m. respectively. Record: 6-1, 1-0 NYCAC.

Doubleheader: Southampton at Mercy
The Colonials throttled Mercy 15-1 in the first game and 12-0 after five innings of play in the second game. Kim Carroll struck out six batters while Rosie Zollo and Erin Molloy helped her out with each batting 4 for 5. Molloy had three RBI and Karen Geaney had two RBI. During the second game, pitcher Shayma Hill, had nine strikeouts in the five-inning mercy-rule-ending contest. Once again, Zollo dominated at the plate batting 4 for 5 and driving in two RBI. Record: 8-13, 6-4 NYCAC.

The Colonials swept Bridgeport 4-3 and 15-7. Erin Molloy batted 5 for 8 and drove in six RBI while also scoring four times. Record: 6-13, 4-4 NYCAC.

The Colonials split with St. Joseph's with a 5-2 win and a 2-1 loss. Record: 4-13, 2-4 NYCAC.

The Colonials lost both games as pitcher Kim Carroll was blanked 6-0 in the opener and pitcher Shayma Hill was outlasted 6-5 in eight innings in the nightcap. Freshman second baseman Rose Zollo went 3-for-6 with a triple and three RBI. Record: 3-12, 2-4 NYCAC.

Senior attacker Mike Daquino continued his scoring tear, rifling in five goals and dishing two assists. Will Campbell added a goal and five assists. Daquino currently leads the NYCAC in scoring, averaging 5 goals and three assists in four games so far this season. Record: 4-0, 0-0 NYCAC.

Southampton lost to NYU 2-3 (30-26, 25-30, 38-36, 26-30, 12-15). Record: 14-8, 5-5 HAY.

Women's Softball April 1, 2001
Doubleheader: Southampton at St. Thomas Aquinas
The Colonials lost two close games against the Spartans pitched by Lady Colonials Kim Carroll and Shayma Hill respectively. Each game came down to the final innings with St. Thomas pulling it out in the end. Results: 2-1 loss and 1-0 loss in an eight inning nightcap. Record: 3-10, 2-2 NYCAC.

Southampton swept Vassar 3-0 (30-23, 30-27, 30-24). Ben Hill finished with 12 kills while John Lenihan had 45 assists and 7 digs. Lenihan is ranked third in the nation for assists. Record: 14-7, 5-4 HAY.

Doubleheader: Concordia at Southampton
The Colonials softball team swept Concordia in a doubleheader that also was Southampton's home opener. Kim Carroll pitched a five-hit shutout to stop the Clippers 2-0. In game two, the Colonials jumped out to a 5-0 lead thanks to two hits and two RBI by Rose Zollo. Shayma Hill held on for a complete game as the Colonials won 7-2. Record: 3-8, 2-0. Rebel Games in Orlando, Fla.
The Colonials softball team played some of the country's top Division II softball powers in this spring-break tourney. Results: 8-0 loss to Merrimack, 13-4 loss to Southern Connecticut, 2-1 win over UMass-Lowell, 8-0 loss to UMass-Lowell, 1-0 loss to ESU, 5-0 loss to Augustana, 13-0 loss to Cornell and 9-1 loss to Merrimack. Pitcher Shayma Hill recorded the win and batted .286 over the tourney. Record: 1-8.

Pre-Season All-American attacker Mike Daquino was named NYCAC Player of the Week after a dominating performance vs. St. Andrews where he scored seven goals and dished out four assists. The Colonials won 19-11 as imposing goalie Larry Falkman made 21 saves. The Colonials are now ranked No. 7 in the nation in Division II. Record: 2-0.

Ranked No. 9 in the NCAA in Division II, Southampton won its opener 22-10 over Division III Farmingdale. Will Campbell had two goals and five assists. Dave Ortiz added four goals. Hat tricks were recorded by Chris Schiefer, Jamie Fabian and Brent Quinn. Record: 1-0.

Southampton outlasted ESU 3-2 (30-23, 28-30, 30-20, 29-31, 15-11). Joe Daigler had 25 kills. Ben Hill had 17 kills. Record: 10-8, 4-3.
