Southampton won big in their last game against a PSAC conference team. The Colonials beat last year's NCAA playoff team, West Chester 1-0, in a crucial regional matchup. Southampton finished 2-1 against the PSAC this year, only losing to national ranked #4 ESU. Southampton Coach Andreas Lindberg said that he is very satisfied that Southampton won 2 out of the 3 tough away games against the PSAC powerhouses. These results put Southampton in the driver's seat to earn its second NCAA playoff bid. Southampton started the contest well and took over the game more and more as the first half progressed. Southampton dominated the time of possesion and looked as if they came ready to play. Senior Andreas Nilsson had the best change in the first half as he came up the highest off a corner and headed the ball off the post. He would get his revenge in the second half as he picked up the ball from a shot taken by Terence Liu, and put the ball in the net to score the game-winner, and his second goal of the year. Southampton maintained control over the game and helped senior goalkeeper Brian Hilton earn his and the team's second shutout of the season. Southampton improved their record to 4-1-2 and looks to be back in the regional rankings again after a 2-0 week. Rankings will be posted on http://www.nscaa.com/rank/index.html on Monday afternoon.
