Jordan Sztern proved to be a blue-chip player during his freshman season last year. His 108 assists led the Colonials. His 81 steals were 13th best nationally in Division II.
The 6-2 guard from Montreal, Quebec, started strong for the Runnin' Colonials, being named to the All Tournament team December 29-30 at LeMoyne College aftering scoring 17 points and taking five steals during the two-game weekend. The impressive display from the freshman was convincing enough for Coach Charlie Peck to start Sztern in 24 of 27 games last season. This year, as a sophomore, Sztern was named Captain along with Jason Lweis.
"He's a real team leader," said Coach Peck. "Jordan is very experienced and has a lot of moxie. Most Canadian or European players aren't very physical, but he likes to bang bodies. That's something we need. At his position, there's probably not a player in the league physically stronger than him." Peck adds that he may already be the best defender on the team.
One of the highlights of Sztern's high school career was playing for Canada's Junior National Team. At Thomas More Prep School in Connecticut, where he honed his basketball skills, he was named team MVP.
