There's no need for a double-take. Born just two minutes apart, the Owens twins both return to the Lady Colonials for their junior campaign at Southampton.
"Both sisters have been working very hard in preparing for the season," said Head Coach Jim Meyer, 'They're both prepared to make solid contributions this year." Meyer added that despite the long hours of work the player invest, they always have a smile on their faces.
Robin learned her basketball at St. Gertrude High School in Virginia where she averaged 7.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game and also played for the softball team.
Owens is most proud of her parents for encouraging her throughout her sports career. She ranks making the Virginia All State Team during her senior year as her favorite athletic memory.
Also a member of the softball team at Southampton, Owens has been steady as the starting first baseman, leading the team in putouts two years in a row with 158 in 1999, and 183 in 2000. According to last year's softball coach Cindy Corwith, Robin "always has her head in the game on the basepaths and could make things happen."
Along with the entire squad of Lady Colonials, Owens is excited about the upcoming season and has set her sights on making the NCAAs this year.
