If the saying that good things come in small packages rings true, then the Lady Colonials possess a real prize in 5-foot-3 freshman guard Jaime Podjed. In a sport where the tallest players are usually glamorized, she plans to stand tall against the competition. "She is a quick, bothersome, guard," said Head Coach Jim Meyer, "She puts defensive pressure on people, and is just all over the court." Having such a tenacious player on the court in sure to bring excitement to the Southampton court. During her career at Lebanon Catholic High School in Pennsylvania, Podjed contributed to a team that won the championship back-to-back years, made the All County Team and scored over 1,000 points. Proud of the amount of work she has invested in her athletic pursuits, Podjed says her goal at Southampton is to win a championship. According to Meyer, she will attack on offense and push the ball up the court. Podjed's presence on the court should annoy opponents, which would certainly please the coaching staff and follow the Lady Colonial game plan. It's a game plan based on speed and will help continue the winning trend that has been established at Southampton.
