While the Runnin' Colonials have a lot of young talent on the 2000-01 squad, Coach Charlie Peck has learned that it is important to have seasoned veterans to add a little bit of perspective to the X's and O's. Enter Kindel Oxilus, a bruising, husky forward who last played at Division I Maryland Eastern Shore College. Before that he played at Portland (Oregon) Community College for two years. Oxilus is a senior transfer who brings a wealth of experience.
"Kindell will be a key player on this relatively young team," Peck said. "He has a great basketball IQ and is an extension of us coaches out on the court."
Peck said Oxilus will be a key utility player, asked to provide relief at almost every position. "He'll be especially important on defense," Peck said, "because he'll have the power to defend bigger guys under the basket."
