Being well-rounded is a valuable trait to bring to the game of basketball. Freshman forward Katie Kenny brings a variety of talents to the Lady Colonials.
"She's got the size, she can drive at the wing," said Head Coach Jim Meyer, "She'll be able to get minutes any of the guard or wing spots." According to Meyer, Kenny is a "multi-talented" player who "can handle the ball well enough to spell at the point"
An All County and All League player at Miller Place High School in New York, Kenny played on a team that was New York Championship finalists. Her favorite athletic memory was beating Longwood to become the first class B school to achieve the feat in 25 years.
Drawn to Southampton because of the school's small size, Kenny praised the basketball program. In regard to the coaches, she says; "they have a lot of energy," and her teammates; "We work so well together and I have so much fun with them."
This positive attitude is shared by Coach Meyer, who said of Kenny, "I look for very good things for her and her future."
