A freshman walk-on this year, Caitlyn Foley is another new face on the Lady Colonials. Like the other newcomers, she plans to push her game to a higher level and is ready for a banner year at Southampton. "Caitlyn is very enthusiastic and very exciting about being part of the program," said Head Coach Jim Meyer. He expects Foley to spend time learning the system. Foley is prepared to contribute in whatever way she can. Foley, who played on the varsity squad all four years of her high school career, including as a freshman, was presented the Coach's Award at Presentation High School in San Jose, California. Perhaps the reason she won this distinction was because of her unselfishness and team attitude, which is a coach's dream, and a key ingredient for a successful campaign. Her focus on team success rather than personal achievements is apparent in her attitude. "I love finding a teammate with a great pass as they slide through the key," said Foley, "I just want to contribute to a competitive team, either in a game or just helping in practice." It is precisely that type of attitude that is found on a winning team. According to Meyer, she has demonstrated "great court sense," and expects Foley to see minutes this season at the guard position.
