SEAmester Log, Part 3

Barbados
March 16, 2003

from Shaun Knight....

After the bird watching trip, we supported the local economy by purchasing some of their products. We were able to sample some of the local fruits growing in Domonica. Such fruits as mangos, guava, coco beans, oranges, and grapefruits staight off the trees. We also went up to Trafulga Falls where we were able to swim in the falls as well as the hot springs. After a fun filled day of the falls, we were able to eat a completely vegetarian meal at a Rastafarian restaurant while listening to Regea music sung by one of the owners. After the best tasting food I've ever had, we had the pleasure of listening to a true Rastafarian, named Henry, talk about history of Rastafarian life and the hardships they have endured throughout time. Then next day we set sail for Barbados. This was a three day sail. During this time a majority of the students on board were headrig cleared (C watch being the first to have everyone cleared. C watch includes Kayla, Brian, Stevie, Cheryl, Lisa, ! Julia, and Shaun.) When pulling into Barbados we met up with the Harvey Gammage. We have been docked here for two days and are planning on leaving for Santo Domingo tomorrow. Until next time.......
