SEAmester Log, Part 3

Sleeping Giant (In reference to the Harvey Gamage tied at Mystic Seaport)

She quietly sleeps in the harbor, Harvey Gamage, our floating home. Her crew is busy bustling about her decks, preparing her for her next trip or voyage.

Her quiet serenity tells nothing of storms she's weathered, or those she will carry us through. Her beauty glows brightly now for all to see. Many have stopped and stared in admiration these quiet days on the dock.

We look forward, though, to when we can again wake her from her peaceful slumber. We will once again strain the halyards until her immense sails are lifted to the peaks of her up stretched masts. Then the breeze blowing on our faces will become our means of travel to a new port where she will again be a spectacle for passersby to admire.

I await the next time I will wake up in the warmth of her cabin and look up to see her masts dancing with the stars. On deck I'll again help guide her, schooning over the ocean. With the help of myself and new friends, she will carry us all to new ports of call and to our trip's disheartening end.
