Pennsylvania artist Rhonda Wall will give a mixed-media performance entitled "Life is a Dada Fashion Show at the Bauhaus" on Tuesday, May 4 at 2 p.m. in the Avram Family Galleries at Southampton College of Long Island University. Wall will incorporate students in her performance which will involve costumes, movement, music and speaking.

A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Wall holds an MFA from Vermont College. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including solo exhibitions at Lehigh University, State Theatre Center for the Arts Gallery in Easton, PA. and B Side Gallery in New York. Her work is held in the collections of the Aldrich Museum of Ridgefield, CT, City College of New York, and the Keith Haring Foundation, among others.

Wall's work often begins with elements such as found images or objects and ideas about their relationship to a particular place or historical event. Pieces develop as a synthesis of collage, painting, drawing, installation and performance.

"In Rhonda Wall's world, contemporary international events, her own personal fantasies and futuristic visions, horrific imagery, and an eclectic set of characters all find a home," wrote a reviewer in Arts magazine.

She also designs and produces her own line of silk-screened Avant-Garde children's hats.

The performance is supported in part by a grant from Long Island University's McGrath Fund. For further information, contact Beth Giles at 287-8234.
