The high-flying Southampton College men's soccer team kept its perfect record alive and clinched its first-ever New York Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in the season's most dramatic game. The Colonials beat arch-rival No. 25 CW Post on Halloween 2-1 in sudden-death overtime. Now No. 3 Southampton (15-0-2) has to beat unranked NYIT on November 6 to finish with a perfect record -- the first in school history. The Colonials are at home for the season-ender at 12 noon.

Senior co-captain Johan Kron got his 19th and 20th goals of the season, downing Post 7:23 into the extra period. Colonial players converged on the field, cheering wildly and hoisting coach Ed Goodhines on their shoulders.

The game was a must-win for Post, and the loss knocks them out of playoff contention. Powered by eight Swedish players , Southampton College is now a lock for the NCAA's Sweet 16 tourney. They are expected to host the opening game on Saturday, November 13 at 1 p.m. Southampton College is ranked No. 3 nationally in Division II.
