Community Invited To Audition for College Choir

Performance of "Mozart's Requiem" Scheduled

Talented high school students and community residents may now have the opportunity to sing with the Southampton College Choir under the direction of Dr. Jerry Ulrich. The choir has scheduled a performance of Mozart's monumental "Requiem Mass" in May.

Those interested in performing with the choir are invited to an audition Tuesday evening, February 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. The audition is a brief vocal assessment, and a prepared song is not required. The fee for joining the choir is $75. The choir will meet on Tuesday evenings from February until the performance in May.

Dr. Ulrich is Director of Choral Studies at Hofstra University as well as adjunct professor of music at Southampton College. He received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from the University of Cincinnati College, Conservatory of Music. His early training included four years as a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Chorus under the direction of Robert Shaw. He was a visiting Fulbright Lecturer at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland.
