"We are pleased to announce these new appointments. We expect all of them to strengthen and enrich the intellectual life of Southampton College and the community," said Lewis Greenstein, Acting Academic Dean.
Three professors join Friends World, a program that stresses "Global Education for Social Change." Trichur Ganesh, born in Tamil Nadu, India, earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Binghamton University. By adding Liebling and Hirschmann to a staff that includes noted physicist Dr. Arvind Borde, Matthew Choptuik, Physics professor at University of Texas at Austin, said Southampton College has "a truly formidable relativity group-- ranking with the best in North America."

The Humanities Division welcomes Jonathan Haynes, associate professor of English, who earned a Ph.D. and M.A. at Yale. In 1996-97, he did a Fulbright Fellowship (his second) in Nigeria.
