"WHAT IT TAKES TO TEACH": A FORUM AT Southampton College

Administrators, teachers, state certification experts and college professors will discuss teaching in today's schools at "What It Takes To Teach," a forum on Monday March 30, from 3 - 6 PM at Southampton College of Long Island University.

What does it take to become state certified? Who are schools hiring? How do you motivate students to learn? These and other questions regarding classroom behavior management, cooperative learning, inclusion and diversity will be answered.

Join professionals in the field of teaching in exploring how current issues and ideas impact our schools. Panelists include:

  • Mrs. Grace Spano, state certification expert;
  • Dr. Phillip DeBritta, principal of Westhampton Middle School;
  • Dr. Dorothy Moran, Principal of Roanoke Schools in Riverhead;
  • Dr. Roseanne Westgate, Special Education Teacher at Southampton Schools;
  • Mr. Rick Nydegger, elementary teacher at Hampton Bays, and
  • Dr. Rajen Vurdien, Southampton College education professor.

What It Takes to Teach? is sponsored by the Graduate Education Division at Southampton College and will be held in the Ocean View Lounge of Southampton Hall.

Limited seating is available, and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis at (516) 287-8200. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
