A new business opportunity is now available for builders, realtors, and real estate appraisers through the School of Continuing Studies of Long Island University at Southampton Graduate Campus. A new, two-course program on Construction Inspection will provide the training necessary for professionals in these fields to become designated as Certified Construction Inspectors through the National Association of Construction Inspectors, (ACI).

Properly trained and certified Construction Inspectors are rapidly becoming an integral part of the construction process, according to ACI, serving the lender, the contractor and the owner. The responsibilities of a certified Construction Inspector include verifying stages of completion on a project, insuring that contractors will be paid in a timely manner, following up on the lien waiver process, and reviewing construction bids to make sure the projected costs are realistic.

The program, unique in Suffolk County, will be offered on four consecutive days, February 26 - 29. On Monday and Tuesday, February 26 and 27, a course titled Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice will be offered. On Wednesday and Thursday, February 28 and 29, Inspection Forms will be studied. Both courses run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Classes will be held at Southampton Graduate Campus but each day will include field work and inspections at a variety of local construction sites.

For further information or to register those interested should phone the School of Continuing Studies at Southampton Graduate Campus at (516) 287-8316.
