Southampton College "Writers Talk" Presents Daniel Menaker
Senior Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Random House Holds Court

Southampton, NY - Senior vice president and editor-in-chief of Random House Daniel Menaker will speak as part of the Spring 2004 Southampton College "Writers Talk" lecture series on Wednesday, May 5. The talk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Pratt Center's Oceanview Lounge. Menaker will talk about establishing a career in the writing world.

Menaker spent more than two decades with the "New Yorker," before switching gears and trying his hand at book publishing. He is the author of "The Treatment," a novel of psychoanalysis, and a short story collection, "The Old Left."

Menaker's authors include Elizabeth Strout, Joe Klein, former U.S. Poet Laureate Bill Collins, Carol Muske-Dukes and George Saunders. Menaker has more than 20 years of experience in the literary world and looks forward to sharing a brief glimpse of insight with the "Writers Talk" series.

"Writers Talk" will continue with its final installment, when the talented writers of the Southampton College's Master of Fine Arts Program in Writing present an evening of readings from their original works on Wednesday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. The College's innovative Master of Fine Arts Program in Writing is committed to meeting the needs of a society increasingly dependent on the intelligent use of language and welcomes writers whose creativity expresses itself in any form of words from novels, poetry, and screen plays to scientific, social, and business analysis.
