Southampton, NY - On Tuesday, April 13 there will be a roundtable discussion of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" in Southampton College's Duke Lecture Hall at 6 p.m. The presentation is a combined project of three classes at the College: Professor Paul Forestell's Honors Introductory Psychology course, Professor William DiScipio's Introductory Psychology course and Professor John Reilly's film class.

The psychology students will first describe the results of written and videotaped surveys they conducted to explore the impact of the movie on changing the attitudes or perceptions of those who viewed it. The members of the roundtable will then be introduced and students from the other two classes will be invited to participate in a discussion focusing on an interpretation of the survey results, and a consideration of the movie as a mechanism for affecting social processes.

The floor will then be open for members of the audience to provide additional insight on how the movie may have influenced their own attitudes or perceptions. For information on the event, please contact Professor Paul Forestell at (631)287-8268.
