Southampton College "Writers Talk": Show; Don't Tell

631-287-8313Southampton, NY - Author Josephine Nobisso will discuss writing strategies and routes for publication of children's books as part of the Spring 2004 Southampton College "Writers Talk" lecture series on Wednesday, April 14. The talk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Pratt Center's Oceanview Lounge.
Nobisso is the author of more than two-dozen books for children and adults. In 2001, her non-fiction picture book from Houghton Mifflin, "John Blair and the Great Hinckley Fire," received five prestigious citations, and in 2000 the author received the "Distinguished Graduate Award" from the National Catholic Education Association. She was named "Friend of Education" by the Beta Pi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an international society of honored teachers in 1991, for her work toward improving the educational opportunities of others and her outstanding service to promoting quality education.
Nobisso is also the author of "The Weight of a Mass," "In English," "Of Course" and "Grandpa Loved," chosen as one of the year's best books by "Parents" magazine. Each year Nobisso conducts over 100 workshops in her copyrighted method of teaching writing, "The Nobisso Recommendations: Guiding Students to Write in Their Authentic Voices," and she visits schools and libraries to present her books or her slide assembly programs, "An Encounter with the Author."
