Southampton, NY -Plant Biologist Ed Himelblau and Southampton College student Kestrel Perez will speak on genetic studies of a common Long Island weed in the first BrainWASH lecture of the Spring semester on Wednesday, March 3 at 1:15 p.m. in the College's Duke Lecture Hall.
Himelblau, a professor of Genetics and Cell Biology at Southampton College, will talk about research on the control of flowering. Perez, a Southampton College senior, will describe related research involving a local weed species that may have been brought to Long Island by early European settlers.
The informal free lectures, presented by the Natural Science Division of Southampton College, allow a public peek into the research of the College's faculty and students.
