Acclaimed Essayist Roger Rosenblatt Reading "Rules For Aging" on PBS

631-287-8313Southampton, NY Roger Rosenblatt, essayist for "Time" magazine and professor at Southampton College, will read from his book "Rules for Aging" as the premium pledge program for Public Television Channel 21 on Wednesday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. Rosenblatt will present a comic talk about his book, and an engaging discussion with actress and activist Kathleen Turner and author Frank McCourt will follow.
Rosenblatt began writing professionally in his mid-thirties, when he became literary editor and a columnist for "The New Republic." Before that, he taught at Harvard, where he earned his Ph.D., held the Briggs-Copeland appointment in teaching of writing and was the Allston-Burr Senior Tutor and Master of Dunston House. At age 29, he was the youngest house master in Harvards history. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Ireland in 1965-66. Five universities have awarded him honorary doctorates. In 1995, Long Island University appointed him its first University Professor of Writing. He holds the Parsons Family Chair at Southampton College.
