Southampton, NY - Preparations are underway for the 10th Annual Silent Auction to benefit the Career Center at Southampton College of Long Island University. Proceeds from the annual event support the Career Center’s placement programs, enabling students to secure internships and cooperative education opportunities and to take advantage of the latest job-search technology. The Center also offers career exploration resources to community members.

Following on the heels of the 2003 auction, which raised more than $9,000, many incredible items already have been donated for this year’s event, including a 10 day-stay in a luxury home in Antigua, cases of wine, custom photography, charter sailing trips and massages. Photos and descriptions of all items will be featured in an auction catalog, which will be accessible online at www.southampton.liu.edu. (Paper copies of the catalog also are available.) Bidding will take place from mid-July through mid-August.

Donations of products and services are being accepted through June 30. All donors will be entered in a raffle to win tickets to this year’s "All for the Sea" concert featuring Rod Stewart.

This year’s auction will be co-chaired by Tom Tobin, president and CEO of Bridgehampton National Bank, and Joe Yaiullo, curator of Atlantis Marine World and member of the Southampton College Alumni Board.

For more information about donating an item or making a bid, call the Career Office at 631-287-8273 or visit www.southampton.liu.edu.
