Southampton, NY - The Southampton Players are pleased to offer another exciting season of stage performances for 2003-2004 at Southampton College’s Avram Theater.

After this summer’s rollicking musical "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," the troupe that’s building a reputation for taking on challenging performances will tackle "Company," Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s landmark musical. The play centers on Robert and his group of married friends, all coming to grips with relationships, love, marriage, sex and divorce in this timeless comedy. Performances run November 7-9, 14-16, and 21-23, 2003.

Continuing the tradition of showcasing innovative, original, student-written one-act plays, the 8th Annual Interact Play Festival, titled "He Said, She Said," will perform January 30-31 and February 6-7, 2004. "InterAct" provides the only local, adult-written original theater on Eastern Long Island. Many of the plays come out of Southampton College's esteemed MFA in Writing workshops with famed cartoonist and humor writer Jules Feiffer, award-winning playwright Robert Reeves, and Time magazine essayist Roger Rosenblatt.

The 4th Annual Presentation of "Better Choices, Better Chances," an evening of HIV/AIDS awareness, will be performed Friday, April 16, 2004. This popular, straightforward sex-education program depicts issues relevant to HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases and is presented in frank and honest voices. The vignettes are interactive, enlisting audience participation, and informative through their theatricalities. The program, supported in part by Southampton Hospital and the David E. Rogers Center, also tours local middle and high schools.

Finally, The Southampton Players will stage their annual summer musical, Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman’s "Follies." The Players hope to once again captivate their audience with their most ambitious effort to date about the joys of music and the enthusiasm and passing of youth. Performances will be June 4-6, 11-13, and 18-20, 2004. Theater Director Michael Disher and the Players are currently accepting resumes for the 50-plus roles available in the show. Perusal copies are also available.

All performances will be held in the Avram Theater, located on the campus of Southampton College of Long Island University, 239 Montauk Highway, Southampton, New York.
