WLIU 88.3 FM Adds New Programming

WLIU 88.3 FM, the Long Island University Public Radio Network, has added a new comedy talk show plus two new jazz series to its schedule.

The new programs include:"Comedy College," hosted by Steve Martin, Rita Rudner and Bob Newhart, a show that features great comedy routines of recent history in unedited, long form. Comedy College is the brainchild of Garrison Keillor and airs on WLIU 88.3 FM at 5 p.m. on Fridays.

"The Mystery of Artie Shaw," beginning October 5, 2002, is an aural biography built around interviews with Mr. Shaw, historical recordings and classics of this popular American musical giant. The show will air on Saturdays at 11 a.m.

"Sounds New, Sounds Classic, Sounds Traditional," is a new jazz program hosted by Michael Hittman, Anthropology professor at Long Island University, Brooklyn. The series originates from the Brooklyn campus at Long Island University and features the jazz studies at Brooklyn and Manhattan; it airs on Sundays at 2 p.m.

WLIU 88.3 FM is a full service, non-commercial, public radio station broadcasting 24 hours per day from Southampton College. It is the anchor station of the Long Island University Public Radio Network, with WCWP 88.1 FM simulcasting programming from the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University in Brookville, NY.
