Visiting Professor David Ferry Hosts Screening of Horror Classic

British Film "The Wicker Man" Is Free and Open to the Public

Visiting Professor David Ferry will host a screening of the British classic horror film "The Wicker Man" (1974, 86 minutes, Rated R) as part of Southampton College Prof. John Reilly's Introduction to Film class on Monday at 6 p.m. in the College's Duke Lecture Hall. The event is free and open tot he public.

"The Wicker Man" stars Christopher Lee and was named Best Horror Film by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror in 1979. The Los Angeles Times said that the film "is witty and scary!...No one who sits through it to the end is likely to find it easy to shake off."

Ferry is currently Head of Printmaking at the Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, UK, and the Artistic Director of the Curwen Studio Print Centre in Cambridge. His current exhibit of photomontages and prints is on view in Southampton College's Avram Gallery through December 6.

Ferry is a visiting professor of Fine Arts and Media from England through a partnership program Southampton College, NY, has with University of Southampton, U.K.
