Southampton College Whaleboat Team Places Second

- Southampton College's new faculty/staff women's whaleboat team placed an impressive second in the Sag Harbor HarborFest's annual race September 14-15. The team went 3-0 before losing narrowly in the final to a veteran Indian Wells team.
Vee Bennett manned the helm while Liz Granitz and Beth O'Sullivan rowed and Jennifer Gunn served in the honorary harpoonsman position (there are no harpoons, of course).
The Continuing Studies Division sponsored an all-Korean team: Sung Ug Jung (Eric), Ji-Wan Park (G1), Seng-Kyoun Jo (Scotti) and Ick Je Woo. The first three are visiting from Hankuk Aviation College in Korea on an exchange program here to learn English. Ick Je is a Southampton College undergraduate student who is also from Korea. Their team lost by just a few lengths in the elimination round.
