Solar Long Island 2002: Day-Long Conference on Solar Energy to be Held April 26

- A day-long conference to encourage the development of solar energy on Long Island will be held Friday, April 26 in the Little Theatre, Roosevelt Hall at SUNY/Farmingdale beginning at 8:30 a.m. The conference is free, but registration is required.
The purpose of the conference it to bring together all stakeholders to look at strategies for removing barriers to the use of solar energy on Long Island. It will include panel presentations and discussions on such topics as financial incentives and funding, how builders, engineers and architects can be involved in promoting solar technology, zoning laws and building and electric codes, and inspection requirements and issues faced by contractors installing solar energy systems.
The conference is sponsored by U.S. Department of Energys' Million Solar Roofs Initiative with the support of the Solar Energy Center at SUNY/Farmingdale, the Institute for Sustainable Development of Long Island University, LI Shines & Citizens Advisory Panel and the Long Island Power Authority. It is planned to be very interactive with ample time set aside for questions.
