Month-long Gift Drive Culminates in Holiday Goodies for Area Children

Basketballs were in this year. So were Sponge Bob Square Pants items, Barbie dolls, Reader Rabbit CDs, and Pokemon toys. The Office of Residence Life at Southampton College sponsored a Holiday Gift Drive by placing gift-wrapped collection boxes all over campus for people to donate new, unwrapped toys and gifts. The collected items will be distributed to underprivileged children all over Eastern Long Island by Human Resources of Southampton. The students also set up a collection box at the YMCA in East Hampton and the donated items will benefit the children of the Retreat in East Hampton.

"It's nice to be able to do something for children in the local area," said Robin Streck, Area Coordinator for the Montauk Residence Halls. "It gives us a real sense of community and will put smiles on many faces this holiday
