Southampton College's Writers Speak Lecture Series Continues with Melissa Bank

Melissa Bank, author of The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing, will speak at Southampton College on Wednesday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Bank's first collection of short stories was a New York Times best seller and called "a smart, ruefully funny chronicle of a young woman's search for love" by Kirkus Reviews. The book has been translated into 30 languages. Her stories have been published in the Chicago Tribune, Zoetrope, The North American Review, Other Voices, and Ascent. Her work has also been heard on National Public Radio on "Selected Shorts," and she won the 1993 Nelson Algien Award for Short Fiction.

Banks holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Cornell University and lives in New York City and Sag Harbor.

All talks and readings of the Southampton College Master of Fine Arts Program are free and open to the public. The lectures will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall. Please call (631) 287-8432 for more information.
