- The Center for Creative Retirement (CCR) at Southampton College awarded its annual scholarship to Margaret King of Westhampton Beach at a ceremony this past week. King was presented with a $500 scholarship by CCR Director Cynthia Fecteau.
CCR awards the annual scholarship to non-traditional students who are returning to college at a later period in their lives. King, the mother of two sons in college and a daughter in high school, attended Rosemont College in Pennsylvania in the early 1980s. She works full-time while attending Southampton College as a Liberal Arts major. She also finds time to write for the college newspaper The Windmill.
The scholarship funds come from direct contributions of members of CCR who wish to help younger people complete their interrupted college education to achieve their goals. "We feel these awards are a symbol of intergenerational faith that we, as the older generation, have in helping younger people succeed in today's competitive world," said Fecteau. s/scoladdr.gif" BORDER=0 ALT="Southampton College Home Page">
