Jules Feiffer, the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and writer, will be the featured speaker at Southampton College's "Writers Speak" lecture series. His talk is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the College's Duke Lecture hall.

Feiffer, one of America's most influential editorial caroonists, is also a playwright, novelist, screenwriter, and author of childen's books. His trademark cartoon style, widely imitated by younger generations of political cartoonists, typically features sparely drawn, neurotic characters agonizing over news, events, and personal problems.

Feiffer teaches a course at Southampton College called Humor and Truth. In 1999, he addressed the graduating class of Southampton College and was awarded an honorary degree. His many honors include an Obie Award, the London Theatre Critics Award and an Academy Award.

All talks and readings of the Southampton College Master of Fine Arts Program are free and open to the public. The lectures will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall. Call (631) 287- 8432 for more information.
