Women's Studies Students to Host Women of Courage and Conviction Program

Students in Professor Barbara Peters' Women's Studies class will host a Women of Courage and Conviction program on Thursday, December 12 in the Kanas Lobby of Chancellors Hall from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Southampton College.

The students selected women whose lives have touched them in some powerful way "through career choices, lifestyles, illness, or even hobbies - and interviewed them for the project. Many of those selected are members of the students' own families. "We talked about what we knew of the women in our own families, their hopes, dreams, talents," said Peters. "Everyone sounded so interesting that the students decided to look in their own backyards for women of courage and conviction. Before the class, these women were just mom and grandma and now they are more?"
