WPBX Radio to Host Live Broadcast of Polk AwardsContact:

Fax: (631) 283 4081WPBX 88.3 FM Long Island University Public Radio will broadcast live the annual Polk Awards Seminar on Investigative Journalism on Tuesday, April 17th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Interviews with this year's winners and the awards ceremony will be broadcast on Wednesday, April 18th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jo Ann Allen, Adjunct Professor at Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus, will be the host for the April 17th show which will feature Polk Award winner Anna Werner from KHOU-TV in Houston, Texas and past winners Kevin Corcoran of the Indianapolis Star and Michael Grunwold of the Washington Post.
On April 18th, Judy Cramer, General Manager of WCWP. FM 88.1, CW Post Campus of Long Island University, will introduce and interview this year's winners: Sam Hodges and William Rabb of the Mobile (Ala.) Register, Scott McCartney of the Wall Street Journal, and Anna Werner, David Raziq and Chris Henao of KHOU-TV in Houston.
Established in 1949, the George Polk Awards are sponsored by Long Island University to honor the memory of a reporter who valued an important news story even more highly than his personal safety. George Polk, a correspondent for the Columbia Broadcasting System, was slain in Greece in 1948 while trying to reach insurgent leaders for an interview.
