WPBX 88.3 FM ANNOUNCES BANNER FUND DRIVERecord Number of Subscribers Call in During on-Air Appeal

Fax: (631) 283 4081WPBX 88.3 FM achieved unprecedented success during the recent fund raising drive that ran November 10th to the 18th. "We set several records," commented Wallace Smith, WPBX General Manager. "Not only did we outstrip our overall financial goal, we welcomed a record number of new subscribers and a higher average contribution than ever before."
Of the almost 600 individuals who called in to the station to make a donation, close to half were first-time subscribers. The average contribution was slightly over $95. Listeners from both New York - mostly Long Island - and Connecticut responded to the appeals and offers of jazz-related premiums.
Timothy Bishop, Provost of Southampton College, and Richard W. Gorman, Vice President for University Relations, saluted the staff of WPBX for "a terrific job positioning the station and establishing its credibility."
WPBX 88.3 FM is a full service, non-commercial, public radio station. WPBX broadcasts 24 hours per day, 365 days per year from Southampton College.
