Top Women's Soccer Teams Compete in Southampton College Tournament

Southampton College hosts the women's Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Championships this weekend, a showcase for some of the Northeast's best female collegiate programs.

"There aren't enough role models for young female athletes in our community,? said Southampton College Athletic Director Mary Topping. ?This is a great opportunity for girls to see some top-notch soccer players."

Led by Icelandic National Player Begga Laxdal, who has 21 goals so far this season, the 12-and-4 Colonials take on Bentley College at 1:30 p.m. on Southampton College's athletic field. In an earlier game at 11 a.m., St. Rose takes on Pace. The winners play Sunday at noon at Southampton College. Call (631) 287-8386 for more information. Admission is free.
