College Announces New Administrative Positions

Development and Enrollment Teams Welcome and Promote Staff; New Position Created for Liberty Partnership Program

A number of new administrative positions have been created and others filled in the Student Development and Enrollment Services departments as Southampton College begins its 2001-2002 academic year. A new position has been filled for the Liberty Partnership Program, a collaborative program between Southampton College and Beach Channel High School in Queens aimed at dropout prevention through college and career preparation.

"We are pleased to announce new appointments in the Student Development and Enrollment Services departments. We wish these professionals well as they work to recruit and retain Southampton College students," said Associate Provost Michael Brophy.

Joining the administrative ranks in the Admissions Office: Jackie Thomas and Marianna Pedone have both been named Admission Counselors. Thomas earned a BA from the University of Rochester and a MA in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. Padone received a BS from St. Joseph's College and is pursuing her MS in School Counseling through CW Post. Deborah Klingel is the new Assistant Director of Admissions Operations. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Management from Dowling College. Amanda Mills has been promoted to Director of Graduate Admissions and Paul Ray has been promoted to Associate Director of Admissions.

Allison Pieloch joins the College as the Director of Student Activities. She was previously the Director of Leadership and Student Governance at Tulane University.

Dale Larocca joins the staff of the Learning and Writing Center as Coordinator of Learning Support Services. In this position Larocca will coordinate support services for learning disabled students and teach Application of Learning Strategies.

Vicki Colina-Brunne has been named the Assistant to the Dean of Students. She will coordinate student research, serve as the student ombudsperson and manage the new Southampton Hall Student Help Center.

Robin Streck, a student in the College's Graduate Education program, has been named Residence Life Area Coordinator and Courtney Bishop is the new Graduate assistant Residence Hall Director.

Joseph Fernandez has been promoted from Assistant Director to Associate Director of Public Safety. Rosemary Malone moves from the Admissions Office to serve as the College Bursar. Al Gee will serve as Acting Director of the Higher Education Opportunity Program and Annette Crippen has been named as Associate Director of HEOP.

Through a New York State Department of Education grant, Tito Burroughs has been named the Liberty Partnership Program Director. He will be based at Beach Channel High School in Queens promoting cooperative relationships between Southampton College and Beach Channel. The partnership helps the College to learn more about the living and learning needs of urban students while opening new doors for the high school students' college preparation.

A few additions to other campus departments include Coleen Shannon as Assistant Director of Continuing Studies. In her new position she will assist in the management of the English Language Institute, the Southampton College Day Camp and oversee all other Continuing Studies programs. Cassie Arroyo has been named Director of Intramurals and Assistant Sports Information Director. Arroyo is also the head softball coach. Head Womens' Basketball Coach and former Admissions Officer Jim Meyer is now based in the Alumni Relations Office, Victoria Fabisch has been promoted to Campaign Associate in the Office of Development, and Robert Glass will serve as Interim Dean of the Friends World Program.
