Three fun-filled, hands-on and creative classes are being offered by the Continuing Studies Office at Southampton College this winter. The Saturday morning courses are geared for children ages 8-12.

Beginning on Saturday, February 2 and running until March 9, Sculpting with Kids will teach children the basic techniques of sculpting. Instructor Simon Booy will also lead discussions on many famous sculptors.

A course in Rocketry will take place from February 9 through April 20. Members of the Long Island Advanced Rocketry Society will present this ten-week course geared for the adventurous student with an interest in aeronautics. Participants will assemble and launch several rockets while learning flight principles, flight testing and safety issues.

An Introduction to Cartooning course will focus on caricature and cartoon styles, how cartoons are developed, and the use of many types of tools for assignments. Students will be challenged to use their creativity in a productive and purposeful environment. The course runs from March 2 through May 11.
