Fax: (631) 283 4081Jackie Zagon, a BFA candidate at Southampton College of Long Island University, is planning a solo exhibition of her work at the Avram Gallery December 18-23. The Gallery will be showcasing Zagon's fleeting images of the Long Island landscape. One major piece entitled "Foggy February" will be featured along with several other works.
Zagon, a resident of Eastport, started college in 1961 and interrupted her studies for "life's happenings." A mother of two and grandmother of twin girls, she will graduate in December 2001 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts.
Much of Zagon's work has been done near her home located by a pond and on the Southampton College campus. After graduating she plans to join several art societies and exhibit her work in galleries and libraries. "I want to paint what I want when I want," she said. "I want to experiment in other media too, including sculpture, and continue working at my home."
A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, December 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. The Gallery is open weekdays 12-5 p.m. and by appointment; please call (631) 287-8234 for more information.
