Southampton, NY - Artists and art students may register now for the 14th Annual Master Art Workshop, which takes place at Southampton College of Long Island University July 17 through 28th. Students create their own work and study with prominent artists using lecture, demonstration and critique during this intensive yet informal workshop.

Among the participating artists this year are John Alexander, Alice Aycock, Donald Baechler, Richmond Burton, Esteban Vicente and Robert Wilson. Participants learn first hand from the artists, including visiting their studios in the area. Textile designer Jack Larson and "New York Times" art critic Phyllis Braff are also scheduled to lecture during the workshop. The Master Art Workshop is coordinated this year by Michael Rosch.

For information about the workshop program or to register contact the Summer Office at Southampton College at (631) 287-8175.

The works of the artists conducting this summer's workshop will be on display July 10 through August 4 in the Avram Gallery at the Master Art Workshop Exhibition. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., or by appointment. A reception for the artists at the Gallery, which is open to the public, will be held July 14, 5-7 p.m. For information about the exhibit and reception, please call Gallery Director Beth Giles at (631) 287-8234.
