In and out of Broadway theatres, in some of New York's finest restaurants and jazzing through Chelsea's premiere dance studio were just part of the four-day marathon experience.
Students attended several Broadway shows including: "Rent", "Kiss Me, Kate," "Smokey Joe's Café," "Putting it Together," "Swing," "Fosse," "Chicago," "Miss Saigon", "Phantom of the Opera" and "Ragtime." Backstage access to "Swing" was made available by cast member and champion swing dancer, Robert Royston. Backstage at "Chicago" allowed students the opportunity of meeting Sandy Duncan and Robert Urich.
Teddy Kern, President of the American Swing Dancers Association, and Tom Cochran, Broadway hoofer, hosted the students for two jazz and musical theatre presentation classes at Dance Manhattan.
Dinners and lunches at Joe Allen, Playwright's Tavern, Mars 2112 and Ellen's Stardust Dinner rounded out the program.
