Southampton, NY - On Friday, September 8, Katie Koestner, outspoken date-rape survivor and sexual assault prevention advocate, will appear at 7 p.m. in Southampton College's Avram Theater to give a presentation about her experience with date-rape, entitled "He Said - She Said." Aimed at Southampton College's new freshman class, the event is also open to the public.

Koestner, who appeared on the cover of TIME magazine, has received national attention for speaking out against a crime of silence. Koestner completed a project with HBO, the "Lifestories" docudrama entitled, "No Visible Bruises: the Katie Koestner Story." Koestner graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.

The program will be co-facilitated by Brett A. Sokolow, J.D., a specialist on sexual assault policy and law. Koestner will tell her story, and then Sokolow will facilitate an interactive jury exercise on sexual assault. These presenters have offered programs to hundreds of thousands of students at 800 colleges, high schools and military institutions all over North America.
