Fax: (631) 283 4081Dan Murray will not be forgotten. The accomplished local poet was scheduled for one more reading, until he unexpectedly died in January. But his words will live on, thanks to several local poets 'his good friends' who will read Murray's work at his scheduled time.
A part of Southampton College's Writers Talk MFA Lecture Series, Dan Giancola, Anthony Guilbert, Alan Planz, Graham Everett, B.J. Cassidy, Vince Clemente and others will read Murray's poems and reminisce about the poet. The event will be held in the Duke Lecture Hall at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8. It's free and open to the public.
Murray, who lived in Mattituck and taught English at Suffolk Community College until 1992, was founder of the Voices on the Vine poetry reading series at North Fork Wineries. He has been awarded a Mellon Foundation Fellowship in Modern Drama and a SUNY Research Foundation Fellowship for Poetry. He is the author of five books.
