GE Financial Assurance, a division of GE Capital, announced that Christopher Hayes will be one of a select group of nationally recognized financial, technology and educational leaders chosen to serve on the Advisory Board for the GE Center for Financial Learning.

The Center for Financial Learning ( www.financiallearning.com ) is the first uniquely objective, impartial Web-based financial education resource for information on personal financial and life-event planning. The site is designed for consumers and will offer online courses, interactive workshops, a resource library and special live events covering financial concepts and products. The site is designed solely to help Americans improve their financial literacy. The GE Center will not offer financial products or services from any company. The Advisory Board will uphold the level of excellence for GE's Center for Financial Learning by ensuring the objectivity of all information provided on the site.

Hayes, who established the National Center for Women and Retirement Research (NCWRR) based at Southampton College, is the author of "Money Makeovers: How Women Can Achieve Their Financial Destiny"; "Gender, Identity and Self-Esteem: A Re-Examination Of Adult Development"; "Mid-Life Women: Planning for Tomorrow"; "Pre-Retirement Planning For Women: Program Design and Research"; and "European Elderly in the United States: A Guide To Practice." Hayes is a Professor of Psychology and founding Director of the Master's Program in Gerontology at Southampton College of Long Island University.

"The Center is going to be doing some very, very cutting-edge research now and in the future, which is going to provide us with an understanding of what Americans really want in terms of financial planning information and how we can deliver that information in a way that changes their investing and saving habits. The GE Center for Financial Learning is a place to go and get the information that's really going to kickstart your financial planning in the future." said Hayes.

The Advisory Board will meet regularly to guide the education initiatives of the Center and ensure the highest standards of excellence and objectivity for all information provided to consumers is constantly monitored and evaluated.

"Hayes is an important addition to the Advisory Board, being so well versed in the financial challenges that mid-life women face," said Raj Wadehra, Executive Director of the GE Center for Financial Learning. He added, "His attention to women's needs will round out the team thoroughly."
